Restoration Project
“You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.” - Isaiah 58:12
“The Restoration Project” is a community-based, faith-based organization that engages in providing Ex-Offenders (former/paroled prisoners) the opportunity to relearn the social and living skills needed to succeed in mainstream society through a holistic approach. Meeting the needs of the Ex-Offender by administering programs targeted toward his spiritual, economic and physical needs. It intends to accomplish this mission through the following:
Community Reintegration: The mission of community reintegration is to reduce the likelihood of a return to criminal behavior by newly released inmates due to an inability to successfully make the transition from incarceration to society and by doing so, reduce the continuing high costs of recidivism. Community Reintegration consists of both pre-release and post-release strategies to assist the offender with his transition to community life;
Housing: We believe that all people deserve the basic necessities of life, and that the community in which we live is called to serve this purpose. It is the mission of the “On Track” Restoration Project to provide safe shelter, food, and an avenue to self-sufficiency for the Ex-Offenders in our community.
Support Services: Helping people in our community become better able to compete in the job market and assisting them with job placements by working with the Department of Education, the Governor’s Office Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, North Carolina’s Workforce Initiative Taskforce, the Department of Correction, the Department of Crime Control & Public Safety and community partners;
Vocational Rehabilitation: The program focuses on providing job coaching and placement services for offenders. The OTRP staff also work to build their clients' self-esteem, give them tools they need to succeed professionally, and offer a supportive ear;
Resident Farm Program: Being in a small rural self-sufficient community (farmland) within the community will foster the atmosphere necessary to effect the desired change in the thought patterns of the ex-offender. Former inmates will have the opportunity to direct their energies towards the farm’s success as well as their own while being in an atmosphere of peace. While using this component as a mandatory part of the resident’s curriculum we expect the component will play a major part in re-directing many inward (spiritual) issues within the man.
Mentorship Program/Community Resources: Our mentors connect recently released offenders with spiritual support as well as directing offenders to the community resources that will assist offenders with the transition from prison or jail to community life.
